Put your relationships to work

You already know the contractors, fleet owners, farmers and dealers in your market. You know what they run and when they are ready to sell. At TAC Auction, those relationships are the job.

We are hiring experienced outside salespeople to bring in auction consignments: equipment, trucks, trailers and whole fleets. We don't draw hard territory lines. You work from [City, State] and follow your relationships wherever they lead.

This is a prospecting job. We supply some leads, but most of your business will come from calls and visits you make yourself. If owners in trucking, construction or agriculture pick up when you call, we can teach you the auction side.

About TAC Auction

TAC Auction has sold heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers and transportation assets for more than 13 years. Our focus is the Southeast, and our buyers come from across the world.

  • 50+ auctions a year: monthly equipment auctions, weekly auctions and special events, plus a few onsite sales
  • 1,000+ lots offered every month
  • 2,500+ registered bidders per auction

Two things give you an edge over the big national auction companies:

  • More bidders on every lot. We advertise across many platforms, and a live auctioneer ties multiple online bidding platforms into one sale. More competition means a higher return for your seller.
  • Flexibility. We are more flexible than the large competitors, which lets you take better care of your customers.

What you'll do

  • Bring in consignments of equipment, trucks, trailers and fleets from contractors, fleet owners, dealers, lenders and business owners.
  • Prospect every week through your own contacts, referrals, cold calls and in-person visits.
  • Spot the openings: surplus equipment, fleet replacements, business closures and liquidations.
  • Sit down with owners, learn what they need and walk them through how a TAC auction works.
  • Gather accurate details on each asset and work with our team on values, auction strategy and seller expectations.
  • Handle photos and inspections on smaller deals yourself. Our team backs you up on larger projects.
  • Keep your pipeline and customer records current in our CRM.
  • Work with marketing, logistics, titles and operations to get assets ready for sale.
  • Attend industry events and stay visible in your market.
  • Hit your consignment goals and earn repeat business.

Expect 4–5 days a week on the road, home most nights, with 3–5 hotel nights a month. More if you want it. Go where the money is.

What you bring

Required

  • An established network: owners and decision-makers in construction, trucking, agriculture, equipment rental or dealerships who know you and take your calls.
  • Outside sales or business development experience with results you can put numbers on. Five or more years is preferred, but your contacts matter more than your years.
  • Confidence talking equipment and money with business owners and fleet managers.
  • The discipline to plan your own week, prospect without being told and follow up.
  • Strong negotiation and organization skills.
  • Comfort with a CRM, email and an iPad in the field.
  • A valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and a home base in or near [City, State].

Big plus

  • Auction experience.
  • Equipment or truck valuation knowledge.

We can teach the auction process. We can't teach a network.

Pay, benefits and support

Pay

  • $26,000 base salary plus uncapped commission on the fees you generate.
